Patients with diabetes and individuals with insulin-resistance (Metabolic Syndrome) show a very high cardiovascular risk that is largely promoted by the atherogenic dyslipidemia associated with diabetes and insulin resistance.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-463dd40 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"463dd40\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Notre activit\u00e9 de recherche se d\u00e9cline autour des trois axes suivants :\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-78dbfd0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"78dbfd0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"well\"><p>Our main goal is to get further insight into the pathophysiology of dyslipidemia associated with diabetes and with insulin-resistance in order to find new therapeutic targets and, thus, to reduce cardiovascular disease in these populations that represents a heavy burden in the world. For several years, our group has been able to develop transversal skills and a recognized experience in translational research. Interestingly, our research group includes several Medical Doctors, deeply involved in translational research, allowing easy access to patients and accomplishment of human studies. Our main research activities within the field of \u00ab\u00a0pathophysiology of dyslipidemia in humans (PADYS)\u00a0\u00bb are built in 3 axes:<\/p><p><b> 1) Dysfunction of lipid metabolism in diabetes and insulin resistance (including in vivo human lipoprotein kinetic studies) <\/b><\/p><p><b> 2) Study of HDL in diabetes and insulin resistance <\/b><\/p><p><b> 3) Involvement of the endocannabinoid system in diabetes and insulin resistance <\/b><\/p><p>The major results obtained by the unit during the 2016-2021 period, for each axe, are listed below :<\/p><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-inner-section elementor-element elementor-element-d5625a0 elementor-section-full_width elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"d5625a0\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-410bd85\" data-id=\"410bd85\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3bac779 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"3bac779\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Our research theme :\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-672c02b elementor-widget elementor-widget-accordion\" data-id=\"672c02b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"accordion.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-accordion\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-accordion-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-title-1081\" class=\"elementor-tab-title\" data-tab=\"1\" role=\"button\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-1081\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-accordion-icon elementor-accordion-icon-left\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-accordion-icon-closed\"><i class=\"fas fa-plus\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-accordion-icon-opened\"><i class=\"fas fa-minus\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a class=\"elementor-accordion-title\" tabindex=\"0\"> Dysfunction of lipid metabolism in diabetes and insulin resistance<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-1081\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"1\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-1081\"><div id=\"collapseOne\" class=\"accordion-body in collapse\"><div class=\"accordion-inner\"><div id=\"1\" class=\"accordion-body in collapse\"><div class=\"accordion-inner\"><div id=\"1\" class=\"accordion-body in collapse\"><div class=\"accordion-inner\"><p>\u2022 Demonstration of a close relationship between HDL-apoA-II catabolism and VLDL1 catabolism in the metabolic syndrome (J Clin Endocrinol Metab 2016).<\/p><p>\u2022 Demonstration that the GLP-1 agonist, liraglutide, has a beneficial effect on postprandial lipid that is due to both a reduction of ApoB48 production and an increase in ApoB48 catabolism and that liraglutide has a direct effect by reducing the expression of genes involved in chylomicron production (Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology 2018).<\/p><p>\u2022 Demonstration that the GLP-1 agonist, liraglutide, increases the catabolism of apolipoprotein B100-containing lipoproteins, in patients with type 2 diabetes, and reduces Proprotein Convertase Subtilisin\/Kexin Type 9 (PCSK9) expression (Diabetes Care 2021).<\/p><p>\u2022 Evidence of altered de novo glutathione synthesis in subjects with high level of steatosis, in a collaborative multicenter study (Molecular Systems Biology 2017).<\/p><p>\u2022 In a study performed in Dijon, we showed that 6-month treatment with the GLP-1 agonist, liraglutide, induced a significant 33% reduction of liver fat content in patients with type 2 diabetes and that this effect was mainly driven by body weight reduction observed with that drug (J Clin Endocrinol Metab. 2017).<\/p><p>\u2022 Evidence that the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma in cirrhotic patients is associated with higher levels of saturated FAs, linoleic and eicosadienoic acids, and lower levels of stearic and arachidonic acids on the erythrocyte membranes (Alimentary Pharmacology &amp;
